Breadcrumbs are a navigational aid that allows users to keep track of their current location on a website or interface. A breadcrumb trail displays the page a user is currently on and its relation to the pages they visited before it, or the hierarchy of higher level parent pages above the current page.

GPS breadcrumbs, often referred to as digital breadcrumbs, are a series of recorded data points that track the path of a device or individual using GPS technology. These data points are akin to the trail of breadcrumbs left by Hansel and Gretel in the famous fairy tale, hence the name.

A bread crumb trail is different than a full blown map. This form of navigation on your Garmin GPS wearable lets you see at a glance where you are on a simple map. It consist of squiggly line and an arrow showing where you are, allowing you to follow the path in real time.
